The heavy equipment has been brought in, and work on the foundation for the new addition has begun. Inside the existing building, we’ve started on a few minor modifications if the offices above the locker rooms. Other than the smell of diesel in the air and some occasional noise, the next few weeks should be relatively uneventful. There will be one exception.
We will be closing both pools on Monday, August 16th, from 5am until 4pm.
As we mentioned in the last update, the soil under the new foundation is going to be treated with lime. This aids in compacting the soil, and is a very common practice. However the product can cause some irritation if you breathe it in or it comes in direct contact with your skin. So to be on the safe side, we’ve decided to just close off the pool while the product is being applied.
All the spraying will take place on Monday and will be finished by early afternoon; the pools will reopen as soon as the job is completed. The lime is put down “wet”, so once it’s applied, it won’t be going anywhere. But there is some dust when it’s being mixed, plus all of the noise associated with the application, so we just figured it’s better to keep people out of the area during the process.
We apologize for any inconvenience, and hope that you will be able to adjust your schedule and take your swim in the afternoon when the pool reopens.
